BEAUTIFUL WEEDS
Over the past few years I have explored the cities and outback regions of Australia and travelled to Europe, USA and Canada. These observational journeys have further influenced my practice through the experience of cultural and emotive connection. Methodologies of Art Journaling and Photography play an important part in my recollection and memory of ‘place’ and ‘subject detail’.
My exhibition ‘Beautiful Weeds’ & other prints and paintings evolved through my passion for printmaking, allowing me to develop and create a series of hand coloured linocut which explores the adaption or otherwise, of introduced plants into Australia.
Painting in watercolour has given a new meaning to my practice, allowing me to develop my newfound passion for this challenging medium. The beautiful translucent layers and atmospheric effects produced with watercolour are completely opposite to the techniques of printmaking and encompasses a resulting magic all of its own.
